Garage Cleanup

I have finally gotten the garage cleaned up enough to start working on the 1800 again:

With the wheel casters I can move it around to sweep the floor...

Now that I have the electric panel I installed some new lighting on cables - an idea I got from the back page readers suggestion page in successful farming for flexible area lighting.

Here is a 360 view of the cleaned garage -

FYI 15 cuft fridge for sale, 7 years old, clean with factory ice maker - makes a great garage fridge:

More Blinds...

After spending $380 on living room & den blinds I decided to put them up in the dining room and my bedroom. As you can see below I sprung for the "no-holes" for the bedroom. J.C. Penny's is loving me another $400 on blinds.

The good news is they sent me some of the parts to convert my pull tilt blinds but the wood rods and valance stand-offs have yet to arrive.

I was able to "get even" with Miss Daisy, on Monday she went to the vet for a few shots - she really enjoyed it until she got on the stainless steel table. Then on Thursday I took her for a shave and a haircut - they asked what to do with the tail and I said to just trim it up a bit but leave most of it - next time I'll have it trimmed back too since it looks like she is running around with a softball bat instead of a tail.

So she is ready for summer and very excited to take me for a bike ride:

For a nine year old dog - 63 in "dog years" she is still an active dog - in fact the groomers were surprised when she hopped over the swinging gate as I left her for grooming. When I picked her up I was told that enjoyed the whole grooming ordeal once I got out of sight.

Miss Daisy's Revenge...

The weekend of June 5th & 6th I was a bit busy. On June 5th I cold ran my road rally, requiring many edits and much time. On the 6th I spent the day running the rally and after much effort the rally came was successfully run, although I had to throw out three legs due to calculation or mileage errors.

Daisy felt much neglected, left alone without attention on such a nice weekend. On Monday evening I spent some time with her, took her for a run etc. So as I was cooking some pork steak & chops I noticed something really was stinking in the back yard over by the grill - so I started looking around and found some clumps of hair nosed under the end of the garage power trench.

I guess she knew what to do with a squirrel when she caught one - and she sure has tried to catch them over the years. Back in Urbana she could jump a six foot fence trying to catch squirrels running along the top of the fence but I doubt she ever caught one then. (she must have learned something from all that watching of and barking at cats)

Ok I can accepted Daisy catching and snapping squirrels necks, they ate 1/2 my strawberry plants, now they have eaten through the netting to get at the ripening strawberries. Fair is fair.

So later once my chops & steaks were cooked & my salad prepared I sat down to dinner in front of the TV. Miss Daisy got some grizzle in her bowl and seemed happy to watch me enjoy my dinner. Since the chops & steaks were still hot and I didn't want my dinner to get cold I set the plate of cooked steaks & pork chops on the far back burner of the stove - then the phone rings (damn telamarketers, but it was from one of those companies that I am still (for now...) have a relationship with so they still call during dinner. Miss Daisy knowing I was distracted trying to get them off the phone doesn't head for my plate, no she heads for the jackpot (the 8 chops & 1.5 lbs of pork steak) I heard the big metal trivet hit the floor so I hung up and headed for the kitchen - she got 3/4 of the big steak down in seconds.

Later checking email she was still a bit wound up from the lack of attention and her recent two big catches. She still wanted my attention knocking over file boxes and trying to become a lap dog. I should learn not to ignore her completely in the future.

Note the squirrel/steak eating grin.
