Roof off - NOT hoping for rain

The roofers started today. They removed the old roofing layers on the back of the house down to the slats. The metal on the back goes on tomorrow (on the trailer). They are going to be removing the chimney tomorrow before starting the put the metal on.

Here is the view from the laundry room looking up. Unfortunately, I left the washer lid today up so I had to vacuum the dust and some shingles out.

Finially cut armoire in half

After taking the circular saw to the armoire I was able to get it moved upstairs. (note the edge trim still needs to be reinstalled) The furniture needed to be cut in half since it could not make it around the post and landing of the stairs. The other option to get the armoire upstairs was to bring it though the large window in the hall but that would mean that it would have to go out the same way or remain with the house.

I added another shelf and replaced the removable TV panel with a solid oak veneer panel. Now I have plenty of storage space for folded clothing like jeans and T-shirts.

Coen Bros back to comedy

Saw Burn After Reading this weekend, not quite as good as Raising Arizona as a comedy, still it is a good movie. One has to to love the part, not to wanting to give anything away here, with Pope and Sledgehammer (J.K. Simmons & David Rasche) "what did we learn..."

I enjoyed the movie but it got me thinking about some of my favorite movies, Raising Arizona and Army of Darkness are right at the top. So having recently watched The Big Lebowski on it's 10 year or so anniversary I had this craving for a White Russian. So as I sat there enjoying my drink as I perused IMDb I ran across a new Firefly/Serenity based comic collection from Darkhorse and then much to my surprise a 4th movie in the Evil Dead Series - My Name is Bruce. If you have to ask yourself Bruce who, maybe that movie won't be for you. See Miscellania for more of my thoughts on Army of Darkness which I can saw with a straight face is one of my favorate movies.

(Almost scarier - there is a Musical Version of the Evil Dead it got really good reviews - but remember most of them were Canadian reviews, however some were from the New York production)

From "etcetera" on Sept 11, 2008

"If the events of Sept. 11, 2001, have proven anything, it's that the terrorists can attack us, but they can't take away what makes us American - our freedom, our liberty, our civil rights. No, only Attorney General John Ashcroft can do that." - Jon Stewart
