Rocketboom

Yesterday I heard about this vlog on Morning edition - to date I had figured that vlogs were just geeks with web cams - low production value self indulgent videos. But John Ydstie set me straight when he profiled Rocketboom. (Link to NPR story) So I checked it out because the idea of a vlog newscast set behind a cheesy old map in the background was appliance to me. Just the audio from the June 28th report was enough to let me know that this was going to be as good if not better than the Daily Show and Colbert Report. Well it was as advertised - Amanda Congdon is a very appealing host and I no longer consider vlogs to be to domain of geeks with web cams.

As one with video conversion hardware I should have expected higher production value and with some smart people out there I should have expected some good vlogging.
